What sign did God give that He would answer Hezekiah's prayer? What signs do we have that Jesus' forgiveness is certain?"
"God Carries Elijah to Heaven in a Whirlwind" (2 Kings 2: 1-14) will be the lesson. Goad prepared Elijah 's successor, Elisha, for the tasks that lay ahead. "What gift did Elisha ask God for? How does God prepare us for the task He wants us to do?"
This summer, students in Sunday School will be looking at how Goad uses the elements of nature to help His people. Today in Sunday School students studied how "God Leads in Clouds and Fire" (Exodus 13:17 - 14:31). Questions that might stimulate discussion are: "How does God show us what He wants us to do? What can we learn about God from the way He led the children of Israel?"
Students studied "God Divides the Jordan Rive" (Joshua 3 - 4). God miraculously brought His people into the Promised Land. Discussion questions might include: "How did God safely lead His people into their new homeland? What kinds of barriers does God remove from our lives?"
As studies are continued of how God used the elements of nature to help His people, we explore "Jesus Calms a Storm" (Luke 8:22-25). Jesus showed His care for His disciples. Discuss the wonderful ways God cares for us also. "How did Jesus show His care and concern for His disciples? How does God show His care for us as His children?
In this lesson, students will study "God Answers Gideon's Prayer with Dew" (Judges 6:36 - 40). God used Gideon to fight for His people. "How did God reassure Gideon of His care for him? How does God reassure us about His care for us?"
"God Heals in the Jordan' Waters" (2 Kings 5: 1-14) is the lesson. God healed a military leader from a foreign country. "What do we learn about God from this account" How does God provide cleansing and eternal healing for us?"
"Jesus Heals with Mud" (John 9:1-7) serves as the basis for this lesson. How has God healed each one of us? What does God use to bring about that healing?
Students will study "God Rains Fire" (1 Kings 18) today. God used Gideon to fight for His people. "How did God reassure Gideon of His care for min? How does God reassure us about His care for us?"
On this final Sunday of the summer quarter, students in Sunday School study "God Preserveres in a Storm" (Acts 27:13-44). God had protected Paul during his adventures. What might the sailors have thought or felt when the storm was brewing? What did God show the soldiers about Himself?
"God Rescues Through an Earthquake" Acts 16:20-34. This account shares Paul's miraculous escape from prison, leading to the salvation of the jailer and his whole family. What frightening things make us value God's love and car? What did the power of Baptism do for this whole family?
